Nord-Apotheke – A Modern Pharmacy with Maritime Charm

Nord-Apotheke in Flensburg is a strong example of how smart design and modern technology can transform a traditional pharmacy into a bright, spacious and customer-friendly environment. Located in the busy Nordstadt district, the pharmacy sees a high number of daily visitors. When pharmacist Joachim Kempa took over in 2018, the space was limited by modern standards. His vision? To create a larger, future-ready pharmacy. This became possible through the acquisition of adjacent premises – and the collaboration with RIIS Health.

Design That Reflects Identity

At the customer’s request, the interior design was infused with subtle maritime elements – a nod to the region’s coastal heritage. A standout feature: the bag holders at the counters are styled as miniature boats, adding character and charm to the space. A Result That Speaks for Itself The result is a pharmacy that feels open, modern, and welcoming. Both staff and customers benefit from the improved layout and efficiency, while the visual identity strengthens the brand experience. Nord-Apotheke is a prime example of how thoughtful redesign, rooted in the partner’s vision, can create a high-performing pharmacy with a unique atmosphere – and a strong foundation for increased sales. From 100 to 230 m² – Built for the Future

With the additional space, we developed a custom concept that more than doubled the floor area – from 100 m² to approximately 230 m² – while optimizing both customer experience and operational efficiency.

Key upgrades included:

  • Doubling the number of manual sales counters from two to four, reducing waiting time and improving flow.
  • A spacious consultation room and a fully accessible restroom.
  • Installation of a state-of-the-art order picking system, modernizing the dispensary storage.
  • A completely redesigned entrance area with a sleek glass façade, enhancing both light and visual space.
  • New outdoor signage, featuring custom lettering and a digital display for opening hours and information.
